Saturn 4 Ultra: Elegoo's Biggest Upgrade in Resin 3D Printing
Just pour resin, it prints. That was my experience with the Saturn 4 Ultra. No Z-offset, no paper strips, no screws to adjust... Resin 3D Printing is very easy now - you just focus on Slicing it right.

HANDLE - STL Files:

2 versions: Screws (drilling) and Adhesive (Double-Sided Tape)
Levelling the Build Plate always made me a bit nervous: like, "I need to do it right..." Otherwise you would just discover it one hour later... And Cleaning a mess before trying again was no fun.
The Saturn 4 takes out most of the difficulties. It is very automatic with a bunch of sensors to help. I won't say it is impossible to mess up. But the printer finally helps a lot to avoid problems.
Sure, you still need to master the Slicing tools. And avoid making a mess with resins... and wear protection.

No matter what happened to the printers... your voice IS so great!
Wow! Thank you so much @FPV-Drones 🤗 You made my day!
bro's definately a sponsored review, how do you not know thats a saturn 3 not a saturn 3 ultra (in the comparison)
Hi there! Well, the Saturn 3 and 3 Ultra have the same form factor outside (besides the color). And I had a 3 to show (not Ultra). Your point?
It's interesting that you came to the conclusion of it being related to power loss recovery. I recently discovered it with my bamboo X1 Carbon I noticed mine was tied to the time-lapse photos. I ended up disabling the time-lapse photo and sure enough problem stopped happening. I still had the power loss recovery enabled which that's why I find your theory interesting. Long story short after I ended up formatting a very nice SD card that I originally put in only had a handful of prints on it everything fixed itself and I haven't seen this problem again. I'll definitely agree that somehow tied to the micro SD card but I'm not sure between either time-lapse photos or power loss recovery what it is causing it. I had never seen it ever and all my years of 3D printing except for recently with the X1 Carbon. I haven't even seen it on my A1 Mini or my P1S's. But it is cool to see someone trying to figure it out. Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks! Bambu printers are a completely different story. If you are getting blobs on your Bambu it’s something else. I have a P1S and I don’t have any Blobs - maybe I should see it using “Smooth Timelapse” I would have something…
hero
Im using the ender 3 v3 se, this happened to me, but i was using the printer before no issues for a while before, then It happened, i just reformatted my memory card, it elimenated the pausing. I was using the stock memorycard that came with the printer. I yhink this happens if the memory card is slow at transferring speeds.
A good review and nice solution to the handle-lacking case, but what is the reason for using a liquid while curing your print and what is this liquid?
Thanks! Oh, the handle is on Printables! I made an adhesive version too. And the liquid is a mixture of 2 parts hydrogen, 1 oxygen 🤣
What's the purpose of curing in a liquid? Is that water or IPA?
It’s water. I need to make a video about it. FormLabs has a paper about how the oxygen in the air makes the resin cure worse. That’s why very often the part is tacky even after it is cured. It’s because of oxygen.
@@GeekDetour Interesting! Thanks for that.
My pleasure! Search for the paper.
are you using autotune on your voice? it sounds like that sometimes.
Ha ha ha. You are right. I speak quite slow - even more because English is not my native language. So, for years I accelerated my voice - and it got quite natural. But then something odd happened. I’ve been speaking A LOT in English… and I am getting better at it. And Faster. So in this video I applied the acceleration factor I was used to do, without realizing it became actually TOO fast. It looked and sounded odd in many moments. I am still applying an acceleration, but it is less. Maybe one day I won’t to it at all. Let’s see 🤣
@@GeekDetour aah, very understandable! i really like that you keep our time in mind and speed up where it is possible. such a smart solution actually! other youtubers could learn from this :) good that your english is getting better and faster :)
About the topic: Best Video EVER!!
Thanks!!! I recorded the whole process in 2016 - and I had given up about the video because I got so many troubles. My wife insisted I should edit it exactly because of the mishaps. She was right. In 2018 I finally published the video.
it sounds like you are sometimes speeding up the audio. is that true?
Yes. That’s true. It got too much in this video. I explained it a bit better in your other comment.
Thanks
Thank you @DIY-Gadgets - it helps so much.
Plastic need heat 1:25
Thank you for your Video , As a beginner its censusing which one is better printer , can you plz tel me Saturn 4 Ultra or Anycubic photon M5S Pro . which one to buy
I never used an Anycubic printer. But I have many printers from Elegoo and they all work good.
@@GeekDetour Ok thank you
I TRYED
NO GUYS ITS FAKE
Do you realize this video is 10 years old? Your newer iPad OS is completely different now!… Fake 🤣
Hi there, by any chance, do you hear back from Elegoo whether they are planning to release a newer wash and cure station that could fit the Saturn 4 Ultra’s build plate entirely or perhaps a new feature like drying, since the last one was released 3 years ago.
There is a chance mine is actually smaller than the one they sell now. I am waiting a response from Elegoo 🤣
Great breakdown I have been having a similar problem with my Sovol and was starting to pull my hair out as to why
Wow. Thank you so much! This is the second time you've saved my prints. I encountered the mysterious blobs issue a while back and after seeing your video, reformatted the SD card I use and got smooth prints again (I now assume memory fragmentation made it slow, as it had been used for astrophotography with many write/erase/rewrite cycles). Now, I had a slight layer shift issue, so slight that I couldn't tell if it was Z binding or actual layer shift. I adjusted the bolts on my rods like you did out of despair after trying everything, and it now prints good as new! Thank you so much for making these videos. They are treasures of information, so well explained and documented, so useful!
Wow 🤩 I read your comment two days ago - only had time to answer now. THANK YOU! You made my day. Each video takes A LOT of time… and sometimes you wonder if it is really worth the effort. Messages like yours give me strength to go on❤️
hello sir could I get saturn 4 Ultra print setting sir
I just used the default settings from Chitubox.
When you tried to reproduce the defect again, why didn't you dried clean the rods ? You assumed again what was the fix
Because testing, recording, editing takes A LOT of time. I was already two weeks into this…. There is only so much time I can take into every video.
It was Machine gods work, probably wrong kind of incense burned or out of sync prayer. Hail the Omnisiah!
Ha ha ha 🤣
Thank you for the video ! Nice presentation and job ! .. so about the accessories I will not going to drill the lid but use a sticker 😅😅 also good idea ! Thank you again
Thank YOU! Yesterday I was uploading my original model and, yeah, I though a lot of people would prefer using just adhesive - at least in the beginning. So I made the alternative version - hope it works nice for you ❤️👍
@@GeekDetour thank you for your reply ! I think I’m gonna pre order this one. That will be uSeful’ for my work.
Hmm, what if it's not truth? and you could start exploring Arduino without prior experience at all.
I think there is only one way to know - luckily, the kits are not expensive, specially the Elegoo one. If you can do basic electrical repairs, understand polarity, if you are comfortable with using tools, some woodworking… this is the type of mindset that usually can have some fun with Arduinos. The programming side of it: you start making the simple projects that come in the manual and start tweaking them: changing values, changing what is written to the display… and you begin to learn things. If not, at least you will know it’s not your thing. To me, I was always attracted to electronics - I never had formal engineering education… but I REALLY wanted to know how to make things. And I loved the look of the components.
HANDLE - Get the STL files for my MOD: www.printables.com/model/870460-handle-for-the-elegoo-saturn-4 2 versions: with Screws (needs drilling) or Adhesive (Double-Sided Tape)
Hy have ball screw ?
No. It has a normal trapezoidal LeadScrew with a brass nut. I don’t think that’s a big deal in this printer because the Build Plate doesn’t go Up and Down anymore. It just travels UP. The detaching movement is done by the VAT going down.
Printing petg too hot made blobs for me. Cooled it down and problem solved.
In your case, it’s likely that the PETG was a bit humid and printing less hot avoided the water vapor to make bubbles. Or it got more viscous by being colder. So many things happen when you print hotter or cooler!
For anyone still lost or just curious Z binding can happen numerous ways. Your rods can be bent The rod(s) may not truly be perpendicular to the gantry (you may have a loose rod or improperly installed) Your gantry may be a little tight There may be physical obstruction within the threads that can cause minor friction thats hard to notice - this can be debris or some gnarled threads. Loosening the screws to a minor degree can potentially solve some minor tolerance issues but they should not be so loose that they float
great video, indeed you know how to tell interesting stories to grab the attention. Keep up the good work. I was looking for a CNC slicer. Thanks.
Oh, wow, thanks! Your kind words made my day ❤️
how can we disable this on the Ender 3 V# KE? I cannot find this setting anywhere in the software or the printer itself
I think it uses Klipper, doesn’t it? You don’t have to worry. It doesn’t have PowerLoss Recovery and that’s perfect.
I have the S2. It's great. STL? STL? STL? STL? STL? The exit holes are indeed.... Not that practical.... Bet you never shared the STL in the 7 months this video was posted? but you say you will in the vid. or do you just not read comment's after posting and just farm comments/views? Maybe a harsh comment from my side, but it's a common thing for content creators lately, and therefore i wouldn't be surprised...
You are right. Time and time again I was remembered that I did not upload my STL model. It is not exactly harsh… but it is a bit entitled. Did you lose money? Do we have a contract? You don’t know anything about the struggles I go through to make ends meet - and, sure, other things got higher priority. I am not happy that I didn’t share it yet - I will, it will be free of course.
@@GeekDetour read the last sentence in my comment... I've seen to much content creators use tricks to get people commenting/clicking for the algorithm. It's sad I was actually thinking you would provide the link to an STL you are using in the vid and said you'd share it for those who have the S2 and then say I'm entitled because I reminded you about your own promise. Anyways, of to another week of 12 hours hard labor for some wages. To bad you read my comment while in a really bad mood I guess. Cheers anyway.
Thanks for the awesome video. Can you tell me the height of the unit when the lid is open? I want to make a hutch for my desk to store stuff on and block some of the light. Any info would be great. Thanks
Thank you! When you open the LID, 70cm in total height is enough to have the lid rotated 90° (so, horizontal) and it stays well in this position. To raise it even further, you need more than 70cm. You need extra 10cm to the back of the printer.
BMG extruder gears do that too
Did you post the file for the handle anywhere I would like to print it
Hi there! @davidfier4874 - it’s on Printables now. Link in the description. I also made an adhesive version.
@@GeekDetour awesome thank you!
I still have one and it hasn't worked since 2019. I'd love to bring it back to life!
Well you don’t have much to lose by trying - that’s how I saw it when I did mine 🤷♂️
Does the Power loss recovery gcode you provide Work on a older Creality cr10s pro? Thank you for the information and help by the way!
The question really is: does an old CR10s have PowerLoss Recovery to be turned off? 🤔
@@GeekDetour Yes :D But it crashes and does not even work when power is restored haha!
Awsome
Thanks! ❤️
are you brazilian ? i hear a slight accent :) great video, just ordered a second hand ipod classic 160 gb
Yes! I am from São Paulo - but I’ve been living in Spain for many years already. Thanks! I am glad you liked the video 🤗
🤌🙏🌻✅🌱♥️
Holes are because you have bubbles in the vat
Not so sure… I already printed with resin that was completely still in the VAT, completely without bubbles, but in the very top layer of the print, I saw those tiny holes. It’s not along the print, nor under the build plate.
1:36 one hand wich can slip away. that V shape dont help.
I think Elegoo had a different vision in mind: on their promotional video they put the fingers in the space between the upper part and the part that goes in the resin - which would be safer… but I never do it myself… I talked to them about it. Maybe they can do something about it. If not, I have a Mod for it in my mind 🤣
If I'm not mistaken.. you can disable the power recovery in CURA as well and it stays off until you remove the line of code ..it's been awhile since I did mine but all I had to do is Add this to the starting gcode in Cura M413 S0 ;
Hey! Nice video. What's the book name?
It's in the description - I also talk about it in the end of the video.
E aí! I used to 3d print back when it was extremely finicky, and now I'm back and loving it. I haven't purchased a dryer yet. Would you recommend the S4 for single printer use but many multi color prints? It's obvious that the S4 is one of the best, but just trying to find a sweet spot so I don't buy the most expensive versions of everything if it's not necessary. Obrigado antecipado!!
Manoel, eu ADORO minha S4.
